Geeks on Wheels is a proudly Kiwi service. Founded in Wellington in 2005, we’ve been based here ever since, with a team of everyday Geeks helping everyday Kiwis with everyday tech.
Over the last 20 years, we’ve gained a unique understanding of the tech issues New Zealanders face daily. From campervan satellite setups to business IT solutions and everything in between, Geeks on Wheels has been helping Kiwis stay connected and up to date since 2005. While fixing broken devices and solving tech annoyances makes up much of our day-to-day, helping is truly at our core.
We strive to take every customer on a personalised journey through advice, knowledge, and education about how technology can benefit them in their everyday lives.
Local Helpline
Whilst most known for our iconic “we come to you service” , we’re also proud to offer GeekPlus – our remote support membership, which now has more than 4,000 members.
Each member enjoys unlimited access to our Geek Helpline. When most people think of remote IT support, they picture offshore call centres. We’re proud to say all our remote support technicians are based right here in New Zealand.
They’re Kiwi tech users too, so they understand the unique issues many of us face – from patchy rural Wi-Fi to dodgy modems and everything in between.
In an age where tech support is often outsourced overseas, our local roots matter more than ever.
Evolving Tech Support – A Focus On Safety
When Geeks on Wheels first launched, our “we come to you” computer and printer repair service was our core offering. Since then, the way we help Kiwis get the most out of their tech has continued to grow and evolve.
Wi-Fi optimisation has become essential, along with remote assistance, smart-device help, and security camera setups. Scam awareness, avoidance, and antivirus protection have also become increasingly important for Kiwis in recent years.
We’re proud to offer a unique scam-support service, GeekSafe™, designed not only to protect Kiwi internet users but to educate them in the process. GeekSafe™ was born out of a simple mission: to protect Kiwis from the scams we see every day.
According to the NCSC, New Zealanders lose around $1.6 billion per year to online security threats. On average, that’s $1,950 lost per person. Over 80 percent of New Zealanders have been targeted by an online scam in the past 12 months, and that number doesn’t appear to be dropping anytime soon.
The reality is, our reliance on the online world continues to increase, along with our exposure to its many risks. That’s why ensuring Kiwis get the best and safest online experience is one of our key goals, and we feel a uniquely Kiwi company is best suited to help with that.
Turning 20 & What’s Next
In October this year, Geeks on Wheels turned 20. Although much has changed in the tech landscape since 2005 (the iPhone hadn’t even been invented yet!), our commitment to unrivalled, jargon-free service that gives every customer the best possible tech experience hasn’t changed.
Here’s to the next 20 years of helping Kiwis stay connected, protected, and confident with their technology.
